Hillpark, Edinburgh

Our client’s have a generous elevated garden which they felt was dated and they weren’t using it to it’s full potential. They had ordered an UrbanPod garden room and wanted a garden designed and created to work with that.

We formed new retaining walls and steps using reclaimed random rubble walling to suit their mature surroundings. We reconfigured the steps to further enhance the journey from the house up to their pod and added in layers of planting to enhance their outlook from the kitchen and dining room windows. We added in landings to make the steps easier for their elderly relatives when they come to visit.

We created two patio areas using Sandstone paving slabs and removed - at their request - the small dividing wall and planting to create a larger expanse of lawn. We created a nice wide path using EccoGravel gravel stabilisation system and Flint gravel infill to give a bit of traction as well as being free-draining which was important with their heavy site and being situated on a hill!

We added to their existing mature planting to fill some gaps and prolong the periods of interest.
