Our clients are located on a generous, elevated, corner plot and had recently renovated and extended their home with stunning results.

The garden was partially worked on at the point of the extension project being carried out but the results were lacklustre and they hadn’t provided any recreational space in the garden. The sloping areas of grass gave very little joy and were a nuisance to maintain.

We designed a space working around some of the existing concrete formwork and providing them with a flexible garden with various sitting areas to make the most of the sunlight throughout the day.

We used Scottish larch timbers to clad some of the existing concrete walls and matched the profile to the extension façade for a cohesive finish. The timbers have softened the retaining walls visually and brought some much needed warmth into the space.

The walls are rendered and we using a soft, light coloured porcelain paving slabs to keep the area bright and simplistic.

We removed all but one little area of lawn but compensated by bringing in lots of plants with feature shrubs/small trees added to the larger planter areas and some fabulous pleached Fagus Sylvatica trees against the rear boundary to enhance their privacy. The trees are newly planted in the space but once they fill out they’ll be just gorgeous and the bronze leaves will complement the warmth of the wood in the winter months beautifully.

Up lighting enhances the views into the garden in the darker months as well as bringing functionality around the steps.
