Frogstone, Edinburgh
The garden of this family home, which had been thoughtfully extended, no longer worked for our clients. Their children were growing and weren’t playing with the wendy house therefore they wanted to make the space work better for them as an extension of their home. Due the location and the wooded area nearby, the garden lost sun-light early in the afternoon. We were tasked with giving them a raised patio area to allow them to catch more of the sunlight and enhance their views out of their beautiful picture windows.
We built the area using concrete retaining walls which were then rendered, as were their existing brick-built retaining walls, in a soft putty toned lime-render and we chose a complementing low-maintenance, modern porcelain paving slab for the patio areas.
We were creative in the transition between the spaces which meant we were able to negate the need for handrails as well as making the journey to and from the raised patio more pleasant.
We added low maintenance, stylish planting with subtle up lighting to further enhance the space.
